Guitar Hero: World Tour Wiis Downloadable Songs Are Real Tracks
2008-05-29 12:30:31 by Patrick Klepek in MTV Multiplayer

Guitar Hero: World TourWhen “Guitar Hero: World Tour” lands on Wii later this year, the downloadable content is exactly what you’d expect: brand-new downloadable, licensed songs.

Activision, Neversoft and Vicarious Visions (the studio behind the Wii version) announced the latest “Guitar Hero” last week. In the press release, they said the Wii version would incorporate in-game downloadable content.

But the question was whether that downloadable content would be limited to user generated tracks via “Guitar Hero”’s new custom songs feature, or the traditional downloadable content we’ve come to expect from “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band.” The latter would be a breakthrough for Nintendo owners, who have had to tolerate Wii versions of “Guitar Hero III” and “Rock Band” that do not support the downloadable content features programmed into the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the series.

Karthik Bala, CEO of Vicarious Visions, confirmed to MTV Multiplayer that the Wii version will have true downloadable content in the form of new music. GH Tunes is a completely separate feature, he said, promising he would elaborate soon.

We’ll be waiting.
