A trio of remarkable young technophiles has managed to prick up the blogosphere’s many ears with a composition performed entirely on pocket-sized gadgets. Marina Dell’mour uses the iAonian piano application on a modded iPhone, while Roland Dell’mour strums a PocketGuitar, also on the iPhone. Sebastian Wöber provides the rhythm section with Electroplankton on the DS.
“There has to be an iPhone band,” Wöber is said to have reportedly remarked. I’m not entirely sure that he’s right, but the clip is fun nevertheless. Hopefully, they’ll take requests: the Mario Paint Portal song cover from last week may be less inventive, but it sounds better.
Unfortunately, the DS is set to go the way of Pete Best (erstwhile Beatles drummer), as the iBand has stated its intention to drop Nintendo’s handheld from the line-up before it goes on to greater things, like releasing more YouTube videos.
In Liverpool, there are posters advertising a Beatles museum, billing it as the first place the band played together. If you go, it turns out to be Pete Best’s Mum’s house, and the museum is just her basement. Let’s hope Nintendo manages to make a better life for itself when the axe falls.
