GTA IV is probably going to be one of the biggest video game launches of the year, so it makes sense that Rockstar isn’t taking any chances with it. Anyone who is set to receive an advance copy of the game in the UK recently received an e-mail asking for their Gamertag or PSN ID, depending on which version they want. They’re apparently compiling a list of people approved to play the game before the official release date to make sure no unofficial copies make their way into people’s hands before they’re supposed to. They’re also asking Xbox 360 users to reset their privacy settings until April 29th so that no one else can inadvertantly see some of the game’s achievements. It may seem a little extreme, but if I were releasing a game this huge and had EA knocking at my door, I wouldn’t take any chances either.
