Move over Pocket Pikachu: Ubisoft's pedometer revealed
2008-03-11 06:45:00 by Destructoid.com in Destructoid - Hardcore video game blog

Do you remember Pocket Pikachu? This was a step tracker disguised as a virtual pet. Your steps and movement would earn you "watts" to feed little Pikachu, and the idea was that you might get your lazy ass off the couch and move around a bit to satiate the little electric rodent. And maybe burn off some of that excess Mountain Dew and pizza weight in the process.

Ubisoft's goals are similar for the previously announced My Weight Loss Coach, though this DS game is definitely more involved. What they both have in common is a pedometer -- and that would be a step tracker and not a child-obsessed pervert tracker. Ubisoft's newly unveiled pedometer doesn't look like much, but its DS connectivity and fitness stat tracking would make Pikachu pout.

To use, you just simply clip it on your belt or pants -- just like this perfectly fit grey-haired gentleman. Go about your daily life, and when you get home, plug this pedometer into the GBA slot of your DS.  The software will do computations to see if you're still a fatty. But I could tell you that without all of the computations.

Would you be willing to rock a pedometer? Or are you so slim and trim that you can play regular videogames?
