Blockbuster Beefs Up Videogame Offerings
2008-04-28 10:11:02 by Susan Arendt in Wired: Game|Life

Blockbuster Blockbuster announced today that it will substantially increase its focus on videogames by offering games, consoles, and accessories for sale at all of its U.S. locations.

You'll be able to pick up special bundles, too, such as the PlayStation 3 movie and game bundle, which includes nets you a 40GB PS3, DVD remote, HDMI cable, Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray,  a Blockbuster 12-week rental card, and the Transformers game for $500.

The stores will have dedicated game sections and also increase the number of games they have for rental.

I'll be interested to see if Blockbuster adopts an online game rental plan similar to the  online movie rental deal it started to compete with Netflix. I can't remember the last time I rented a game from Blockbuster; the selection was always terrible and the rates were too high.  That said, I haven't experienced the problems with GameFly that others have.

Assuming that Blockbuster does a good job expanding its game library and has ample copies of titles, would you be inclined to rent games there?
