I’m actually pretty impressed. You know that games are becoming kind of a big deal when an MMOG is sitting on Yahoo’s top ten list. And hey, Blizzard? I don’t see World of Warcraft on there. Looks like you’ve still got some work to do.

Ironically, most people who know what WoW is would give you a blank stare if you mentioned Runescape. Maybe that’s why they’re all looking it up…

Do I remember Shadows of the Empire being better than it actually was? I remember being amazed by the game…but something tells me that I was caught up in the glory of the N64. I wonder if the game will ever hit the VC. If it does, I’ll be sure to grab it…and be severely let down.

The world premiere of our first trailer for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves!

On top of that, Game Informer has revealed the cover for their January 2009 issue today, which features none other than – you guessed it – Uncharted 2. The January 2009 issue will hit subscribers and newsstands in mid-December and will give you the first in-depth look at what lies in store for Nathan Drake.

Last week I offloaded my heavy Dell Latitude notebook computer to a relative and snapped up a ridiculously cheap Asus EeePC.

The idea of switching to an ultra portable "netbook" was that I would be more eager and able to carry it around much more regularly and tap away in locations that have previously proved too difficult with my cumbersome notebook.

But naturally, the first thing I did after installing some essential office applications was to put some games like Peggle, Bookworm Adventures and World of Goo on the machine for when I'd rather have some light entertainment than do more work.

Industry analysts are predicting that the boom in highly portable netbooks will have a significant impact on the future of gaming.

This author at iStockAnalyst believes it will be massively multiplayer online games and casual gaming portals that will benefit most from the shift to devices that are always connected but have little storage space and less processor grunt than typical PCs.

I'm not sure it's a particularly welcome scenario for most of the PC Gaming Alliance, who earlier this year banded together to try to improve PC gaming's reputation and address some of the common grumbles that are causing the PC to lose its lustre as a cutting-edge gaming platform.

Clearly one of the big problems for proponents of PC gaming is that most consumers do not need high-end CPUs or video cards for anything else except games, which makes investing in a top-shelf PC difficult to financially justify when consoles are more affordable and offer increasingly diverse software libraries.

Today I'm keen to hear whether you have also bought a cheap netbook (or a similarly under-powered computer) or if you plan to buy one in future. And if so, do you think it affect your gaming habits?

So I was minding my own business at the gym, jamming out to some crazy techno music on my headphones while doing some bench press reps, mindlessly watching the flat screen TV’s hovering above me. A headline peaked my curiosity as I watched the muted (it’s much better this way) morning show. Yahoo’s Top 10 Searches of 2008. Alright, these are always interesting and mildly amusing to see. So they start revealing the list, we got the usual suspects like Angelina Jolie and Lindsay Lohan, but then they got to number 5 on the list — RuneScape. Yes, RuneScape.

I guess there is something to be said about it being the only game on this list, the only game searched for more than Jessica Alba, American Idol, Angelina Jolie, Naruto and Lindsay Lohan. Truthfully, it hurts my brain to think about it. I’m not sure if this is proof that RuneScape is to be respected as a force in the MMO genre, or if it’s simply a testament of Yahoo’s users base. I’m not trying to put down RuneScape, I think it has its place in the world. However, it does strike me as being slightly odd that it is searched for this much. Lets be honest, RuneScape isn’t exactly ground breaking on any front, nor is it even notable in any single aspect of the MMO genre. Maybe the hardcore gamer inside of me doesn’t understand how a game like this could be searched for more than say, Halo, Guitar Hero or World of Warcraft. Perhaps this is that magical casual market that sells millions of games to non-hardcore gamers. That demographic that the Wii seems to have enticed. Maybe, I’m more in the minority than I think I am. Whatever the reason, lets raise our glasses and toast. To RuneScape, for being hotter than Jessica Alba, and being the only game to make it to the top 10. Congrats!
